How do we know the motorcycle charging system is working.
Street glide battery not charging.
Checked ac output from stator.
Volt meter was showing not charging.
2006 street glide check engine and battery light came on.
At different times during a ride the battery will not be charging.
Changing the battery on my harley street glide.
Checked for shorts or opens on stator.
These projects never go as smoothly as we would like stupid wire got it done in the end and now back to rid.
Got back home 15 miles voltage down to 8 5.
Checked battery connections and were fine.
Any advice on what to check or if i even have an issue would be awesome thanks guys.
If you take regulator physically off bike and lift only ground wire and then do first test and 12v reading went away then problem probably in regulator.
Bob walks through some system checks to make sure everything is working and the electricity is flowing.
Must be the regulator.
2006 street glide check engine and battery light came on.
Videos on removal and replacement.
From start up or occurring in the middle of a ride the voltage will drop and then start charging again.
Check the regulator rectifier the starter and ac voltage output.
No change when revving the bike up.
Same readings battery still not charging.
Both the engine check light and battery light will come on and voltage indicator will be 12 or less then will start charging 14 5 without me doing anything.
Checked the voltage at the battery while bike running it reads whatever the battery charge is.
Volt meter was showing not charging.
If you see 12v then you have a short to ground someplace.
Charged batter read more.
Lift ground off battery and put volt meter on 12vdc with one lead on ground battery post and other lead on on your disconnected ground battery wire.
Got back home 15 miles voltage down to 8 5.
Thought stator was bad.
Checked all connections battery regulator good checked battery terminals steady at 12v when the bike is off and when running.
Checked battery connections and were fine.
I thought it should be 14 volts when running charging.
